I had a great time speaking this past weekend at the Center for Integrative Medicine’s 2016 Health & Wellness Conference. My presentation, an action-packed review of research, covered diet, supplements, fitness, and lifestyle. I literally felt I could have presented on this topic for 10-hours. However, I gave the audience an abundance of information about the latest research trends in this field. In a 4-part article series, I will provide you with research updates and my personal take on this hot topic. You will be one step closer to the truth about how to lose weight and how to keep it off!
It seems we are all waiting for the “next best thing” in weight loss and this vicious cycle sets us up for weight loss failure. Attempt after attempt not only messes with our bodies, but also with our heads! The research is always changing and it is important to stay up to date. I specifically review ketogenic diets, very low calorie diets, intermittent fasting and meal timing, and various macronutrient profile modifications. I outline what each of these approaches entails and what the overall findings say about their role in boosting metabolism and losing weight.
- Part II focuses on supplements for weight loss. I discuss popular products on the market including medium chain triglycerides (MCTs), green tea extract, capsaicin, calcium, and others. Do these products actually make a difference and are they safe?
- Part III focuses on fitness and lifestyle strategies such as strength training, high intensity interval training, fasted workouts, sleep, and cold thermogenesis. I teach you how these tools work to manage your waistline and how you can get started with incorporating them into your routine.
